Sustainability
The European Union aims at becoming the first climate neutral continent by 2050. The first main objective towards this goal is reducing emissions by at least 55% by 2030, compared to 1990 levels. To achieve this, the EU has adopted a package of policy initiatives, the European Green Deal, to lead Member States on the path to a green transition. One of the main strategy adopted under the Green Deal is the Circular Economy Action Plan.
Some initiatives part of the Commission’s Circular Economy Action Plan under the European Green Deal include:
- Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation – Regulation (EU) 2024/1781
- Battery and Waste Battery Regulation – Regulation (EU) 2023/1542
Both EU and non-EU products have to comply with the new requirements.
